The first meeting between the Birmingham Cardinals and the Blue Sox began on a beautiful Saturday holiday weekend.  The Blue Sox will like to thank the entire Cherokee County community for coming out and supporting your local baseball team.  With the large turn out the Blue Sox management will try to keep admission at a low cost!

 

The game held on May 25 was a well played game by both teams.  The Blue Sox came out to a slow start with their bats once again.  The Sox defense committed their first error of the season causing an unearned run in the first inning.   Corey Collum drove in his first RBI after Nico McElrath’s single in the fourth inning.

After the Cardinals switch their pitchers the Sox began the inning with two walks from Justice Covington and Jo Jo Bynum.  After a passed ball to advanced the runners the Cardinals threw the ball away on at pick off attempt scoring two runs!!!  The very next pitch Batter Shawn Covington hits a home run over the left center fence.  Two batters later Nico McElrath hits his first home run of the year bringing all the offense of the day to 5 runs.  Still to short to reach the 8-5 final.
