The first meeting between the Gadsden Hit Squad and the Blue Sox began fifteen minutes early in case of rain. From the beginning of the game, starting pitcher Jayde Boatfield controlled home plate.  He was in control of his signature slider and change up early in the game.  With five innings of work, Boatfield only allowed one hit and struck out eleven Hit Squad batters.

All the Blue Sox batters were very slow to generate any hits in the first couple of innings. Although lead off hitter Justice Covington and right fielder Keon Rucker did a wonderful job of finding a way to get on base early, they were unable to get in to scoring position.

In the seventh inning pieces of the puzzle came together with a lead off walk and stolen base from J. Covington.  Base coach Quazzi Covington placed a bunt and run in motion to set up a game leading run.  Breaking down the barrier to score multiple runs was short stop Myles Cordell with a two run Home Run!!

Once batters, Nico McElrath, Junior Gray and Shawn Covington were able to figure out their zone, the hard hitting trio allowed the closing pitcher Malcolm Brooks to close the door.
